A.L.P.S. Medical Director Dr. Abraham Ishaaya has an intimate
understanding of weight-loss medicine. At the age of 9, Dr. Ishaaya
suffered from bronchitis that kept him cooped up for months.
With nothing to do but eat, his waist soon grew to a size 33.
“For two years, I was heckled,” he says. “My
parents would take me from doctor to doctor and give me diet
after diet, but it was very hard to get started.”
Dr. Ishaaya eventually overcame his own battle with weight,
and after becoming a board-certified pulmonologist and sleep
specialist, he grew even more sensitive to the issue of weight
loss. He noticed that many of his pulmonary and sleep apnea patients
suffered from obesity.
Dr. Ishaaya understands that shedding pounds requires a whole new approach to living – and a real, effective way to suppress appetite. His comprehensive holistic approach combines a thorough assessment with Dr. Ishaaya which includes a full laboratory analysis and other testing if needed on site, fat analysis and body composition, dietician's customized meal plan with natural weight loss supplements and if needed, prescription medication and laser treatment for a successful weight loss program. Laser therapy for weight loss usually involves application of a low level laser to particular points to provide an overall sense of well being and to stimulate metabolism. Of course, each patient receives a customized plan based on his/her weight loss goal and overall health. Close follow-up is mandatory to achieve desired outcomes with basic weight loss and laser weight loss.
This is not surprising. Obesity is a growing epidemic in our
society, one that contributes to billions of dollars in medical
costs. Being obese increases your risk of developing:
* diabetes
* heart disease
* stroke
* arthritis
* certain cancers
One of the measures of obesity is the Body
Mass Index, a number calculated from a person’s weight
and height.
Type in your weight and height into our BMI calculator to find
out your BMI category.
Using our program (whether it involved laser therapy weight loss or not), Dr. Ishaaya says he has seen his patients slim down and improve their health.
“It’s been really neat to get to help them,” he
says. “It’s very emotional. When you talk about rewards
in medicine, this is one of the real few ones – as far as
seeing the results inside and out. “
